Medifast

Medifast is a diet marketed and created by the Medifast company.  Medifast Inc. is located and based in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Medifast touts itself to be a low carb, low fat, low calorie plan where customers are required to buy food from Medifast Inc.  The diet claims to allow dieters to be healthy while still being able to lose weight at a faster rate as compared to other traditional plans of dieting.

The reason for this is that Medifast claims that their diet plan places the body in a state of mild ketosis wherein fat is burned not the muscles.

The Medifast diet offers no charges for membership.  It only charges for food purchased from the company.

The Medifast diet plan consists of the 5 & 1 meal plan.  In this plan, the dieter consumes food six times in a day with every meal recommended to be consumed 2 to 3 hours apart.

Five of the meals to be consumed are to be purchased from the company while the rest is supposed to be a meal that is “Lean & Green.

Lean basically consists of 7 ounces of either fish or poultry or seafood.  It could also either be lamb, beef or pork.

Green meanwhile consists of cooked vegetables – but does not include corn, carrots, potatoes, Brussels sprout or peas as these contain high levels of carbs.

An average day consists of taking in at least 800-1000 calories. Medifast meals all contain added minerals, vitamins, protein added as the fortification of food helps dieters receive proper intake of nutrition.

Basically, the Medifast diet offers no limitation whatsoever on the meals to be eaten, except Medifast  bars which are limited to be taken only once each day.
